"Love is Louder was started by actress Brittany Snow, The Jed Foundation and MTV to build on the outpouring of support online after the lives of multiple teenagers were lost to suicide in September 2010. After hearing about all of the teen suicides stemming from bullying, my heart broke. We have all felt hurtful words and know how much they really hurt. As we grow older, we know that the bullying is jealousy, hate, and the bully just feeling threatened....but, when you are young it just hurts. I could make a list of what specific people said to me and about me when I was going through growing pains in middle school...the hurt stays with you. To imagine that these teenagers went home, to their safety, and weren't able to escape it through online bullying...well, there is just no excuse for it.
