{design} barn wedding

I am not one that thinks about the 'big day' very often, being single and in no rush and all, but I am a huge sucker for wedding websites and Pinterest that showcase those amazingly unique outdoor weddings.  You know, mason jars, succulents, letterpress invites...

Well, I got to experience one of these "no detail is too small" weddings [remember that special dress I had for such an occasion?] and I have to say, I am still speechless.  Everything about this wedding, including the couple, was perfection.

{road trip} apple picking

The thing about apple picking?  You don't need kids to enjoy collecting a bushel of delicious apples!

{style} vintage Oscar de la Renta

For those of you who live for a good vintage find, you know the feeling when you come across that special hidden treasure.  When I saw this 60's dress in Decades of Fashion on Haight in San Francisco back in April I immediately had to try it on.  Not only did it fit perfectly [not ONE alteration was needed], but when I checked in the back collar I was even more surprised to find an Oscar de la Renta Boutique tag looking back at me.

I have been holding out for the perfect reason to don such a lovely piece and my friends' daytime barn wedding this weekend was just that event!  Best part of it all was that no jewelry other than a ring and simple gold studs was needed - simplicity is key.

Vintage Oscar de la Renta dress, heirloom ring, Flirt! 'High Wattage' lip color, OPI 'Here today gone aragon' nail color

{photo diary} Blue Hill Farm

After dining on our delicious lunch at the Blue Hill Cafe, we headed down the road to play with the animals.  I may almost be 30, but I can't say I was any less excited when we drove by the pigs as I would have when I was 4 years old.  The one pig and I bonded, I named him Walter [though, he is technically a girl I found out later...] and he even let me pet his head!

I must say, these animals are obviously beyond happy and being treated very well.  What a difference it really makes.

{fauna} flora delight

Though I need to strategically place them up high in places where certain four-legged animals can't eat them, one thing that I would ideally have in my apartment each and every week are fresh flowers.  This week I have two lovely bunches bringing color to my life.

{good eats} Blue Hill Cafe

My friend Amanda and I decided to take a day trip into the normalcy outside of NYC this weekend [we all need a little normalcy from time to time, no?] so we headed up to Tarrytown.  First stop on our trip was the Blue Hill Cafe.  I had no idea that the cafe was on a farm [those photos + my new pet pig to come soon]!  The caramelized onion + mushroom bread, veggie frittata... you can really taste how fresh this food was.

If the food and decor wasn't enough to fall in love with, they had the most amazing fresh flowers with adjoining farmers market.  Those tomatoes were unbelievable!

{good eats} Petite Abeille

Walking into Petite Abeille to meet Amanda for a lovely Sunday brunch was sensory overload.  See, before I started always ordering hearty, Belgian Waffles were my "go-to" dish, so walking into this quaint cafe and smelling fresh, warm waffles being baked to order one after another, I didn't see any other choice when I looked at their menu.  Would you??
