{style} Jazz Age Lawn Party pt 2

When I headed to Jazz Age Lawn Party last year, I had no idea I was going to be one of the only people that wasn't dressed up. Since this is the most amazing annual event in NYC, I made sure to step my game up a little bit this year + made use of a unique 20's mesh bag that I scored at a flea market last year [it's also amazing what a lovely parasol can do].  It was spectacular to head outside the city into another decade + see so many happy people in one place!  Like our very own Midnight in Paris via Governors Island.

dress from High School [almost my own vintage] - The Limited, 1920's hand painted mesh bag - flea market score, pearls - handed down from Great Grandmother, shoes - Nine West

Happy 2012!!!

I have finally joined the rest of the world, purchasing an iPhone as a Xmas gift for myself, with Instagram being the first app installed, obviously.  As much as I love toting [more like lugging] my Digital XLR around, it's nice to be able to take quality photos from a phone.  Here are a few images from my first week.  Oh, and if you're on Instagram as well, you can find me at @RobinWest or on Webstagram!

Velvet Clouds

I can't believe I have only been in my new place for 1 week?  It is not near complete & the bare, white walls are torturing me. But, with all of the simplicity, I have been noticing some great details & textures showing their colors.

Some favorite items on display to cheer me up when I rise from bed; a phenomenal mustard yellow velvet vintage chair-just for fun; vintage wood carved mother/baby owl set from Portland (I was only going to get the baby, but the salesperson wouldn't let me separate them)

2011 List

Thanks to DesignLoveFest Bri Emery's Twitter, I found some motivation to create my own list for myself in 2011.  Not resolutions that will disappear by January 3rd...but real things to remember.  What's on your list?

How amazing is this B-Day dress? Fabulous (and seriously affordable) couture find from Modern Vintage in PDX. I would wear it everyday if I could

-You have stopped 'not living because of fear' and great things are happening because of it.  Don't let it get the best of you.

-If everything in the creative world was easy, everyone would be doing it. Don't let the little bumps take away your energy.

-Continue to evaluate things & fully communicate with everyone in your life.  Everything is a process, but you are doing great!

-Take the time to keep you check book balanced.  When it's not, your life is usually a little messy.  Organize, organize, organize.

-Always trust your gut.  It has your best interest in mind.

-Continue adding brightness, textures, sequins & other shiny pieces to your wardrobe (like that number above).  While you are at it, display it.  Always good for a little pick me up on a drab day.

-Don't let your laziness grab you...you know you are better than that!

-Budget wisely, but don't forget to spend on things for yourself...like a manicure, a lip color or some delicious treats from time to time, instead of a pair of shoes that you really don't need!
